Important Meeting Note
During summer break, girls are welcome to work independently on badges and patches. Girls are also encouraged to attend scouting events independently. We will make time for girls to present any independent work done over the summer during our September meetings.
September will be the last chance for bridging Juniors to complete any Brownie badges. You will officially be Juniors in October.
Lists of recommended badges and patches suited for independent work were provided during prior meetings. Please refer to the Book Club page or the On Your Own pages.
Sarah shared the Racism and Hate Have No Place Council’s Own Patch Program from Girl Scouts of New Mexico. Girls can also work on the America250 Patch. Both are suitable for scouts to work on their own with their families.

Hostess- We would appreciate it if every family brought in a snack to be shared after the ceremony
Bridging and Award Ceremony is 7-8 p.m. Please arrive at the normal meeting time. We will spend 30 mins going over roles before we start. All guests can arrive at 7 p.m.
Homework:
Please have your scout vote for the new Junior crest in preparation for the End of Year Award/Bridging Ceremony. All scouts (even those who are Brownies for one more year) should vote. Juniors will have the same troop number, so we want everyone to be able to choose our crest. Lauren will send out a poll. Please be on the lookout for it. We will reveal the new crest at the ceremony.
Upcoming Event:
June 20; 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. National Aquarium in Baltimore
Our troop will visit the aquarium in the morning (9:30 AM entry), eat lunch at Pierces Park on Pier 5, and then attend the Animal Care and Rescue Center Tour(1:30-3 p.m.). The tour has a limit of 16. Parents can join during the morning visit and lunch, but only a few will be able to join the tour. This visit is for the Sealife and Endangered Segments.
Award Ceremony Script:
We will practice going over this during the 30 mins before the ceremony , so every scout is prepared to speak. Each girl will get a copy of only the “scout speaking parts” and we will prompt them.
Note: If any scout feels uncomfortable speaking please let us know, and we will reassign their speaking lines to another scout.

My country ‘tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountainside,
Let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
And rink form all the trees,
Sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
Badges
Abby
“We are about to begin the award presentation for tonight’s program. To start, we’d like to share a poem called A Badge Is”

“A badge is a SYMBOL of something earned. For doing things nimble, while a skill is learned.”

“A badge is a TOKEN of a service rendered, with no praise spoken for assistance tendered.”
Blair
“A badge is a GOAL for which girls work hard. To accomplish a role and meet with high regard.”
Melodie (or Robin)
“ A badge is not to be taken lightly its possession is quite a feat. It must be earned rightly, and all requirements must be met.”
Kathy

Volunteers
Terry – The mom who travels long distances so Melody can be part of the Troop -That’s commitment!
Sam – The mom who knows what to do with a grease fire and Mike – Who fills in to make sure Layla attends as many programs as she can. Welcome to the Troop!
Kathleen – Always manages to help out even with juggling work travel, and Emmie’s two younger brothers. Mike is also great at filling in especially on hikes and fishing!
Michelle – Willing to go out of her comfort zone as long as someone takes care of the spiders! She is also very willing to jump in and assist at stations on meeting
nights. Welcome to the Troop!
Amanda P. – Robin’s Mom fell right into the scout mom role! She asks all the right questions and has helped Robin get a great start with the troop and Robin’s Dad
was also there to help with fishing. – Welcome to the Troop!
Robin – Blair’s Mom is a lot of fun always willing to jump in and help. She is especially good at helping with the Jump Rope! Blair’s Dad, Sean was also great filling as Blair’s “Assistant” when she presented her science experiment to the Daisies!
Lauren – Our photographer!!! What would we do without Nora’s mom capturing every special moment. Lauren is always there to back the leaders up when we
need help and it is very much appreciated. She does a fantastic job assisting Nora on her “Flying Solo” badges and patches, everything is so organized. She sees
things that needs to be done and makes it happen like organizing the Troop Crest Voting!
Amanda M – Our Treasurer! Amanda works behind the scenes to handle our our finances! We really appreciate her willingness to jump in and help at a station,
especially scrapbooking which can turn into a disaster very quickly… instead she had things organized and the pages that were created were beyond expectations. We love how Amanda teams up with Sarah to take care of the dishes, too.
Ashley and Ben – It’s tough being the leaders family… you get those last minute calls. “I need help!” Thank you Ashley for tying up all the loose ends for the Tea
Party and all the other things I needed help with. Ben has been very willing to jump into any role I ask… from camp cook last year to knot tying or visiting Girl
Scout Stores around the country to see what ideas he can bring back. He also reminded me that I am like having another kid to worry about embarrassing him
with what I say and do. Like when Miss DeNike added into the parent newsletter than “this week she learned from the Girl Scouts, that turtle breathe through their butts”.
Brooke – Lorelei’s Mom always has a smile on her face and troop chaos doesn’t seem to phase her one bit. She is always willing jump in a help at a station during a meeting when needed. Lorelei’s dad, Chris wins the best costume award for the Trunk or Treat event. What a good sport!
Kasey and Mike – Lilly’s mom not only took on starting a Daisy Troop at Fork, she is always stepping up to help with the Brownies, too. We appreciate how she
thoughtfully includes the Brownies on some of their Field Trips! Nothing phases Kasey and she is full of surprises. Our troop shirts were such a surprise – We love them!!! Mike and Kasey are always there, from assembling a bridge without instructions to helping girls make their own hiking sticks and taking fish off the line. We are so lucky to have a dedicated scout family like the Ogles in our troop.
Sarah and Dave – Wow! We thought the fall product sale was great, but then came cookie season. The number of booth sales and boxes sold were so far beyond expectations, and we are truly grateful for all your family did! I know it was a family effort and everyone pitched in. The way you support Jojo and the badge work she completed is impressive everything is organized and your videos are fun to watch! Your ideas and willingness to pitch in and even help with the dishes is so much appreciated.
Bernie – I think Bernie forgot what it was like being a scout dad. But he has signed on and takes on any task we send his way. From killing spiders, to fixing windows, to breaking into the dining hall when we locked ourselves out. He was there. He is also there to run back home, when I get to the meeting and forgot something I need and that is pretty often. He goes above and beyond… all I said was darn, it’s a shame the see saw is broken and look what he did!!!
Ask Sarah and Amanda to come forward – Jojo and Abby will present gifts.
Leaders and Girls stand up face the audience and say…
We couldn’t do this without all of you! Thank you!
Cookie Incentives!
Sara will present
Kathy will call up 5 highest sellers and present the “ornament” for the bulletin board.
Troop Crest Reveal
Kathy will make a large copy and have it on an easel with a drape.

And so we give you Brownie wings,
That you may fly to bigger things!”

Make new friends but keep the old
One is silver and the other gold

KATHY – Requirement #1 Explore your Interests – 15 – 20 minutes
Imagine we lived in a world with superheroes – and you could be one! Think about the story of your superhero-self: What are your skills? What are your powers? What’s your backstory? How do you make the world a better place? We may not be the superheroes we see in comics and movies, but we can be everyday
superheroes who make a difference! So, jump in and explore different kinds of jobs, or careers, you could have when you grow up.
Here’s your first step: create a collage all about you! What do you like to do? What are you good at doing? Find words and pictures that show others who you are.
JULIE – Requirement #2 Discover the Possibilities – 15 – 20 minutes
All kinds of jobs, from coding video games to baking cakes to planting forests, use STEM. So, how will you change the world? Will you take care of endangered animals? Will you design a new kind of plane? Will you cure diseases? Explore careers that focus on what you like to do—like making movies, dancing, and
playing video games—and what you care about—like animals, other people, or nature. By looking at jobs related to things you’re already interested in, you’re one step closer to finding your dream job!
